Aila, Lim Headline Department Directors

HONOLULU -- Gov.-Elect Neil Abercrombie on Monday introduced some of the people he has chosen to be part of his Cabinet.

Abercrombie named Waianae Small Boat Harbor Harbormaster William Aila Jr. as his choice for head of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Aila is a former candidate for governor and has run the Waianae harbor of years.

Merchant banking firm Sennet Capital co-founder Richard Lim would take charge of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.

The governor-elect has picked Waiawa Correctional Center Warden Jodie Maesaka-Hirata to lead the Department of Public Safety. That department runs the state's prisons, sheriff's division and inmates at mainland prisons.

For the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, Abercrombie picked Alapaki Nahele-a as director. He is currently Hawaii Charter Schools Network executive director. He was a member of the Hawaiian Homes Commission and a former Hawaii County Council member.

Abercrombie also named 15-year DHHL employee Bobby Hall as the deputy director.
